David asks:
Why do you "not" recommend Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets?

Over the past 10 years 80% of all deer wounded and lost by our hunters have been with Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. Our hunters routinely harvest in excess of 300 deer per season. After thousands of examinations we have determined that these bullets "may" explode on impact thus failing to adequatley penetrate into the deer'vitals which are necessary to insure a quick and humane harvest. Nosler's Accu bond or Partion Bullets tend to show improved performance on harvested deer.

Most of the problem was with the Winchester Ballistic Silver Tip bullets. You can dot the X at the range out to 400yards with them but at 150yards on the shoulder of a whitetail they would hit and rapidly expand and not penetrate all the way in or through the vitals. The deer would run off after the shot with little to no blood trail. That ended up in a long night trailing a wounded deer with dogs warring out the guides and hunters thus making the rest of the hunt a long tiring time instead of having the time of your lives.
