When is the best time to hunt axis bucks?
 

At any given time of the year you may have axis bucks in velvet, recently shed, or in hard antler. The majority of bucks however shed their velvet during the month of May which is my favorite month to hunt them. The big bucks will start rutting shortly after that making it an exciting time to hunt the "big ones."
