New Mexico Pronghorn Antelope Hunts
New Mexico has a large population of pronghorn antelope and produces some Boone & Crockett size bucks each year. Antelope hunters are not required to enter a difficult drawing like many “Western States” if they are hunting private land in New Mexico. Hunters will find convenient flights into Lubbock and Midland/Odessa International Airports. After the hunt Historians may enjoy the rich history surrounding the “Land of Enchantment” such as the Navajo, Jicarilla & Mescalero Indian Reservations and the mystery of “Billy the Kid.” Those that enjoy “gaming” may visit the Reservation’s Casinos while others may enjoy shopping for “Western Art” in the romantic town of Santa Fe or Ruidoso. Taste the rich blend of native cultures as you enjoy traditional southwestern cuisine. Hunters are often blessed with crisp clear mornings and beautiful New Mexico sunsets of red and gold. Come Hunt With Us
With the exception of three hunters, all of our New Mexico pronghorn antelope hunters have enjoyed 100% success for 22 consecutive years. Each year many of our hunters will harvest bucks from 14-17 inches scoring 74-82 B&C. The SCI (Safari Club International) record book minimum is 70” while B&C (Boone & Crockett) record book minimum is 80” with “all time ranking” 82”! Our private ranches comprise 37,000 acres and receives very little hunting pressure helping to ensure our hunter’s success. Hunters may see 100 or more antelope during their hunt along with an occasional coyote. “New Mexico Antelope Hunting Licenses” are guaranteed through “Private Landowner Permits” so no need to enter a drawing. The archery antelope season is in late August with the rifle antelope season is in early October when the weather is often very pleasant.
Hunting Methods
Our New Mexico pronghorn antelope hunts “embrace” and “preserve” the time honored tradition of “fair chase” hunting! Our team of professional guides utilize the “spot & stalk” method of hunting that has so consistently produced quality animals for our hunters through the years. The objective is to cover vast amounts of our private ranches, accessing strategic locations whereby guides can set up their spotting scopes to glass the distant prairies for herds of pronghorn antelope. Once a mature buck is located, a careful evaluation is made to determine the best approach. After that, the stalk is on as hunter and guide attempt to slip within reasonable rifle range. The average shooting distance is around 225 yards.
