Exotic Hunts
The initial introduction of exotic big game animals into the State of Texas took place in the mid 1950's. With many areas of Texas having similar topography to Southern Africa and portions of India, the exotic plains game animals reproduced extremely well. Since that time the overall population of exotics has steadily grown thrusting Texas to the forefront of destinations for exotic big game Safaris within the U.S. border. Through the years many more species of exotic big game have been introduced into Texas. Some species now found in Texas actually out number those found in their native countries were they originated.

Come Hunt With Us

Since 1985 we have had the pleasure of guiding several hundred successful exotic safaris with the majority of our Hunter's trophies scoring high enough to make the record book. This track record of achievement was earned through decades of dedication and focus on our Hunter's success. With the hard work of our experienced guides, "Magnum Hunters" have enjoyed nearly 100% success on all their Safaris with us. Complimented by a steady stream of repeat clientele, Magnum Guide Service, LLC has grown through the years to hold some of the finest hunting concessions in Texas for our "Magnum Safaris." We are very proud to offer our Hunters some of the most affordable hunting for gold medal exotics in Texas, as well as special packages and group discounts. Corporate hunts, family hunts, and first time Safari Hunters are our specialty.

Hunting Methods

Primarily safari style out of a 4WD vehicle until game is spotted then carefully stalked into comfortable shooting range, just like going on Safari in Africa!

What Is Furnished

We provide our Safari Hunters with some of the finest in Southwestern style home cooking to include, breakfast, lunch, dinner, complete with fresh desserts! Our lodges are extremely comfortable and modern with all the comforts we all have become accustomed to like a soothing hot tub complete with an adult beverage or as called in Africa, a "sundowner." Our staff of guides are very experienced and even include Professional Hunters from Africa. Basic trophy care is included on each Safari along with transportation of Hunter's trophies to a reputable Taxidermist as requested. For those flying commercially into the San Angelo, TX airport (SJT), we provide free roundtrip transfers between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM 7 days a week. For those choosing to fly private aircraft into the Eldorado, TX airport (27R) which is paved, lighted, and has both AV Fuel and Jet A, they may contact the Magnum Guide Service "Main Lodge" located only 3 miles from the airport on the common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF) 123.00. Please call us ahead of time with your ETA so that we can monitor the Lodge's aircraft radio for your approach into Eldorado and meet your landing aircraft.

What Is Not Furnished

While our hunts are almost completely inclusive, Hunters will still need to bring their personal hunting equipment, gratuities (a standard in the industry) for staff, adult beverages other than beer, personal hunting license, and airport transfers outside of normally scheduled times. Any meat processing or crating and shipping of trophies to Hunter's personal Taxidermist is not included. Gun rentals are based upon availability and Hunters may choose to obtain their hunting license directly from us.

Other Hunting Opportunities

Can be combined with most anything, including predator and javelina hunting.

Travel Tips

Traveling Sportsman who choose to fly commercial airlines should contact their airline of choice for the latest in airline company policy. Hunters should also view the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) web site for current rules and regulations governing commercial airline travel. Since many species of exotic big game provide excellent table fare, Hunters should give some thought to taking some of their meat home. Also, because some exotic species have such large antlers and or horns that may require oversized shipping crates combined with overnight shipping fees, Hunters might consider having their trophies mounted in Texas by a reputable Taxidermist who mounts exotics on a regular basis.

For complete custom meat processing we recommend:

“Thank you for a wonderful experience; we shall remember this trip all of our lives. Please pass on our thanks to your great guides and lodge staff. With your help all of us got trophies we can be proud of. The variety of exotic animals we saw is amazing. Tom’s birthday cake was very thoughtful and added a nice touch. On our return trip home there was a lot of talk of a return hunt in the near future. Perhaps we can schedule it in time to pick up our taxidermy items. Thank you”
Don Collom, MI

"I wanted to thank you all for a wonderful and memorable hunt. Anthony and I had soooooooo much fun and we can't wait to come back. I truly love Texas and I must say it is my favorite place to hunt. Thanks for guiding me and giving me a great opportunity to shoot such a beautiful Buck and a gorgeous Zebra. I must say I was very tempted at that exotic ranch to shoot everything! Anthony created a Huntress for sure. I laso wanted to thank Melony for her delicious cooking and making us feel so at home. We shall see you all soon and I hope to be back in December.
Ciara Shay, MA

“Well, it seems I just can’t go wrong hunting with you! Boy, what a trip. Our second hunt together starts with two great Rio Grande turkeys, then asked what else can I do while there? Set my goals – and you deliver. I filled the sheep and goat slams, and then you set me up with one of the most sought after big game animals, the Addax. Not just an animal, but the potential new #5 Trophy Game Records of the World Record, which completed the super slam of exotics. The ranch, guide, owner, taxidermist and others are all elated, what a beautiful trophy! I cannot wait until I join you in August for our Alaska hunt. What pleasures await me are great expectations. Please use me as a reference.”
