Trophy Whitetail Hunts
Texas has the highest deer population in the United States along with affordable and unlimited hunting licenses, liberal bag limits, long seasons, and many record book bucks. Texas has also been the forerunner in game management programs for whitetail deer. All of this combined with vast private ranches is why so many hunters travel to Texas in search of that true, "show and tell" buck. In the 2004/2005 Texas whitetail season our hunters harvested a 175 B&C, 166 B&C, 160 B&C, 156 B&C, 151 B&C, and over a dozen bucks in the 140 B&C class! We lost count of the bucks in the 130's!

During the 2006/2007 Texas whitetail season our hunters once again experienced excellent success on 120-150 B&C bucks. Many of our larger bucks were passed on by hunters because of broken antlers incurred during the rut. Based upon the shear number of outstanding bucks we left alone last season to grow for another year, this upcoming 2007/2008 Texas whitetail season should be one of the very finest in Magnum Guide Service's 22 year history! We hope you will come share this exciting year with us!

Come Hunt With Us

We have been hunting whitetails for 40 years, guiding hunts part-time for 28 years and full-time for the past 22 years with an annual success rate of 97-100%. All of our whitetail ranches are professionally managed and have been for many years. Being a full-time wildlife management firm, as well as a full-time guide service, has given us an intimate knowledge of those species in which we choose to pursue. Our ranches are large, up to 20,000 acres each. We hunt our trophy whitetail ranches vary sparingly during the Texas 16 week whitetail deer season to insure our Hunter's success. We also schedule our whitetail deer hunts to coincide with the very best times so our clients have the highest success on 5 1/2 year old bucks and older with trophy quality antlers. By working in cooperation with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Technical Guidance Biologists we have acquired many MLDP (Managed Lands Deer Permit) Level II & III on premier ranches which allow our deer Hunters to hunt whitetail deer from October 1st through February 28th. All of our whitetail hunting packages include outstanding meals and exceptional lodges. All of our trophy hunts are fully guided, either 1 x 1 or 1 x 2. Our Sanctuary and Trophy Hunts have liberal bag limits up to 1 buck and 4 doe deer. We also have affordable Management and Antlerless deer hunts. Our Hunters may also hunt javelina, hogs, predators, and/or exotics for a trophy fee. We can easily accommodate individual hunters up to large corporate groups. Excellent service is our specialty as is customer satisfaction.

Hunting Methods

We hunt our whitetails utilizing a variety of methods. Portable tripod stands near fresh scrapes and travel routes, two and three man ground box blinds, some are handicapped accessible with heaters, elevated tower stands over feeding areas, still hunting, rattling antlers together, and on occasion out of a high rack 4WD custom hunting rig safari style. Our routine is to leave well before daylight for the morning hunt, return for lunch late morning, and go back out for the evening hunt later in the afternoon. Those who choose to hunt all day will be accommodated. The rut in our area generally runs from November 15 through December 5, with a secondary rut starting approximately December 27.

Weather Conditions

The weather in Texas is always unpredictable so one must be prepared for anything. The average conditions for the month of November are morning lows from 35-45 warming up quickly into the 60's or low 70's. Light rains are possible and winds from 15-25 mph are common with the passage of frequent cold fronts. December is a more stable weather month with lows from 25-35 and afternoon highs in the 50's to 60's. Light rain is still possible but the winds have died down considerably.

"I wanted to thank you all for a wonderful and memorable hunt. Anthony and I had soooooooo much fun and we can't wait to come back. I truly love Texas and I must say it is my favorite place to hunt. Thanks for guiding me and giving me a great opportunity to shoot such a beautiful Buck and a gorgeous Zebra. I must say I was very tempted at that exotic ranch to shoot everything! Anthony created a Huntress for sure. I also wanted to thank Melony for her delicious cooking and making us feel so at home. We shall see you all soon and I hope to be back in December.

"I would like to express my appreciation to everyone for making this year's hunt a very enjoyable experience.  I have been extremely impressed with your staff on both of my hunts with Magnum.  All of the staff have been professional and have made sure every hunter's needs were taken care of.  A truly first class operation from initial arrival at the airport until return for departure.  Although we had adverse weather conditions, every effort was made to ensure we had a chance to harvest a deer.  Thanks again and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you this fall."
