Hunter Expectations

You can expect to be treated well, hunted hard, eat so well you gain weight, warm comfortable bed, excellent hunting equipment, experienced, honest, hard working staff, and a feeling of camaraderie amongst the camp. Whitetail hunters enjoy seeing lots and lots of game, sometimes as many as 25 different whitetail bucks a day or more. In addition, our hunters often see bobcats, turkeys, feral hogs, and javelina depending on the ranch. Mature trophy bucks are 5 1/2 years of age or older while Management bucks are often targeted earlier. Our widest inside spread buck to date was 26 7/8". Our affordable "free range" whitetail ranches produce bucks that often score 120 to 155 B&C, with our "Sanctuary" high fenced ranches producing bucks that often score 140-180 B&C. "Magnum Hunters" are often allowed to shoot multiple doe deer and cull bucks legally, and at no charge, under the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department "MLDP Level III" program. These culling permits are individualized for our ranches in an effort to help us improve our whitetail deer herd! Hunters are expected to be safe with their weapon of choice at all times, respect and follow State & Federal Game Laws in addition to ranch rules, have a positive mental outlook, willing to hunt hard, spend as much time in the field as necessary, maintain good marksman for ethical harvesting of game, and respectful of others at all times. We want everyone's hunt to be a total success.

Special Equipment

Recommended equipment are scoped rifles sighted in for 200 yards of .243 caliber or larger shooting 100 grain controlled expansion bullets (NO NOSLER BALLISTIC TIP BULLETS PLEASE!) Shots from blinds average 100 yards. High quality binoculars, scope covers, flashlight, spare batteries, face mask, full camouflage, rain gear, camo gloves, quiet walking boots, ice chest, digital camera, video camera and hunting license.

Other Hunting Opportunities

Exotic game such as axis deer, fallow deer, sika deer, blackbuck antelope, corsican rams, mouflon rams, elk, buffalo, eland, waterbuck, and oryx to name only a few. Also, feral hogs, javelinas, bobcat and nighttime predator calling hunts may be available for an additional fee. Additional trophy whitetail bucks and management bucks may be harvested based upon availability for a trophy fee.

Travel Tips

Hunters should consider securing their airline tickets at least 2 months in advance of their travel dates. Hunters driving to the Lodge should arrive the afternoon before the first day of their scheduled hunt between the hours of 12:00 - 4:00 p.m., and plan to depart the morning following the end of their hunt. Hunters flying into the San Angelo, TX airport between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm will be provided free airport transfers to the Lodge. Hunters who choose to arrive in their own personal aircraft will be accommodated. Hunters may obtain their hunting license in advance through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department or directly through Magnum Guide Service, LLC. We are a licensed vendor for the State of Texas. Hunters should consider traveling with a soft wheeled duffle bag and a locking gun case. Carry on items may be transported in a backpack which will come in handy when shuffling your gear from the Lodge to our vehicles. Hunters may have their meat processed or donated to a charitable organization. Also, Hunters may choose to have their trophies mounted by a local taxidermist or shipped back home to their taxidermist of choice.

Jim & Melony, I had the best time of my life. This was truly a hunt of a lifetime. The Jones lodge was first class from the guides (J.P., Riley, and Roy) to the great cooks (Mary-Ann and Vicki) of course the deer, oh my goodness the deer. I saw many deer I could have shot, but held out for the 145-class 8-point I got. Thanks for the great memories and wonderful time I had. I can't wait to come back. Mike Sloan, FL.

"Thanks Jim and Melony, and James.  For anyone interested in Trophy whitetail deer hunting, Magnum Guide Service is the booking to make.  The trophy management practices you are using on the ranches are working very well.  I have never seen quality bucks in such large numbers anywhere else I have hunted.  I would gladly recommend your services to anyone so please give my phone # to any potential client that wants to talk to a satisfied past and future customer.  Thanks again for the, "Ninth inning nine pointer".  He will be a favorite memory of mine for the rest of my life."
R. Cash, GA
